La Sierra vs. Rancho Verde (League)

The La Sierra Eagles (9-4, 5-2) Swept the series against Rancho Verde on Thursday at the hands of another dominant performance by starter Dennis Martine. Martine attacked the strike zone the entire day, throwing 67 of his total 87 pitches for strikes. The Rancho Verde offense struggled, as they finally managed to break up Martine's no-hit bid with 1 out in the 6th. Martine went on to complete his 1-hit shutout, striking out 10 and walking none. The Eagle bats didn't have a big day, but managed to score enough runs to give them a victory. Blake Moreno would drive Morgan home on an opposite field single, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 3rd. Three innings later, Ryan Villarreal reached on a single, and was driven home on Connor Hillis single to right. Hillis led the offense going 2-3 with an RBI.
