The Eagles dropped their first league game to Canyon Springs 13-12 in a slug fest that featured plenty of offense from both teams. Canyon Springs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead off starter Andrew Hardy, but La Sierra would respond in the top of the second with 3 runs of their own. The offense was led by J'Anthony Sanchez (3-5), Ryan Villarreal (3-5) and Dennis Martine (2-3). Several Eagles scored multiple times in the game, including Sanchez (2), Daniel Beltran (2), Villarreal, and Brian Bos (2). Chandler Morgan relieved Andrew Hardy in the fourth inning, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk. The Eagles plated 7 runs in the fourth inning and jumped out to a 10-4 lead. That lead would not hold, as Canyon Springs took advantage of 9 walks in the game to blow past the Eagles in the 7th, hitting a walk-off double off reliever Dennis Martine. Martine took the loss, allowing 7 runs on 7 hits, 3 walks, and 1 hit-by-pitch.
Notes: Six of the nine batters walked by La Sierra scored. J'Anthony Sanchez leads the team in average (.486) and was promptly pulled up to varsity. Andrew Hardy allowed 4 runs in 3 innings off of 3 hits, 4 walks, and 2 errors behind him.
